How Time Zone Conversion Works

Every zone has an offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which can change during the year for daylight saving time. Convert the time to UTC using the first zone’s offset on that date, then to the second zone.

UTC = local time − offset Time there = UTC + their offset

This page uses your browser’s built-in time zone database (the IANA tz database), so DST rules and historical changes are applied for the date you choose.

Worked Example

Tips

When clocks spring forward, one hour of local time doesn’t exist; when they fall back, one hour happens twice (this page uses the first). For recurring meetings, recheck around the DST change dates, which differ between countries.
