How to Find the Mean, Median and Mode

Mean = sum of the values ÷ how many there are
Median = the middle value once sorted (average the two middle values if the count is even)
Mode = the value that appears most often   Range = largest − smallest

Tips

The median is less affected by outliers than the mean: one huge value (42 above) pulls the mean up but barely moves the median. Use the sample standard deviation when your numbers are a sample of a larger group, and the population version when they are the whole group.
