How Exponents Work
An exponent tells you how many times to multiply the base by itself.
bⁿ = b × b × … × b (n times) b⁰ = 1 b⁻ⁿ = 1 ÷ bⁿ b^(1/n) = ⁿ√b
bᵐ × bⁿ = bᵐ⁺ⁿ (bᵐ)ⁿ = bᵐⁿ bᵐ ÷ bⁿ = bᵐ⁻ⁿ

Tips
Watch parentheses with negatives: (−2)⁴ = 16, but −2⁴ means −(2⁴) = −16. Enter a negative base here to get the parenthesized version. Fractions work as exponents: type 1/3.
